December 22, 2006, Newsletter Issue #45: About Electronic Distribution Services

Tip of the Week

Electronic distribution services will send your press release directly to journalists via e-mail. They will also submit your release to search engines. There are many companies that do this, so look carefully before you choose. A reputable electronic distribution service should 1) have its own database (as opposed to one that is purchased), and 2) charge a subscription fee or require journalists to opt in to the service. Journalists are far more likely to read a release they've paid to receive than one that is, essentially, spam.
